FCM Special Attraction Dog Shows
FCM-recognized breeds or varieties only, which are not eligible to compete in the AKC-licensed show
During the four days of shows of the FCM Universal Championship to be held at the Santa Fe Expo Center during November 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th all the breeds not fully recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) can participate at the special attraction event and will be able to compete for the following titles:
FCM - Panamerican Championship (Thursday November 12th, 2026)
FCM - Continental Championship (Friday November 13th, 2026)
FCM - Intercontinental Championship (Saturday November 14th, 2026)
FCM - Universal Championship (Sunday November 15th, 2026)
FCM - Mexican Championship (All four days)
All the breeds not fully recognized by the AKC will be divided in ten groups:
- Sheepdogs and Cattledogs.
- Pinscher - Molossoid.
- Spitz and primitive type.
- Scent hounds and related breeds.
- Pointing Dogs.
- Flushing Dogs - Water Dogs.
- Companion and Toy Dogs.
- Sighthounds.
- Other breeds recognized by National Organizations.

Class Division
For all classes, the age of a dog shall be calculated up to and inclusive of the day or of the show. For example, a dog whelped on January 1st is six months on July 1st of the same year, 12 months of age on January 1st and 18 months of age on July 1st the following year.
- Minor Puppy: For dogs that are 3 months of age and over, but under 6 months. The ten winners of the “Best Minor Puppy in Group” will compete for the “Best Minor Puppy in Show”. This class is offered at the “Special Attraction” event to all breeds (including the breeds recognized by AKC).
- Puppy: For dogs that are 6 months of age and over, but under 12 months, that are not champions. The winners of the “Best Puppy of Breed or Variety” will compete for the “Best Puppy in Group”; The ten winners of the “Best Puppy in Group” will compete for the “Best Puppy in Show”
- Twelve-to-Eighteen Month (Junior): For dogs that are 12 months of age and over, but under 18 months, that are not champions. The winners of the “Best Twelve-to-Eighteen Months (Junior) of Breed or Variety” will compete for the “Best Junior in Group”; The ten winners of the “Best Junior in Group” will compete for the “Best Junior in Show”
- Mexican-Bred: For all dogs (except champions) 6 months of age and over, whelped in Mexico, by reason of a mating which took place in Mexico.
- Open: For any dog 6 months of age or over.
- Champion: For any dog 15 months of age or over with an official title from an FCI country.
- Veteran: For any dog 7 years of age or over. The winners of the “Best Veteran of Breed or Variety” will compete for the “Best Veteran in Group”; The ten winners of the “Best Veteran in Group” will compete for the “Best Veteran in Show”
Dogs can only be entered in one class. These classes shall be divided by sex.
Judging Procedure
- Each class will be judged individually and dogs will be placed from 1st to 4th place.
- Dogs of the same sex which have won first prizes in the following classes: Puppy, Twelve-to-Eighteen Month (Junior), Mexican-Bred and Open Classes will compete for the Winners prize (male and female).After the Winners prize has been awarded in each of the sex divisions, the second prize winning dog, if undefeated except by the dog awarded Winners, shall compete with the other eligible dogs for Reserve Winners. No eligible dog may be withheld from competition.
- Veteran dogs will be judges after winners prizes has been awarded. Meaning that veteran dogs will be called after winnners’ dog and veteran females will be called after winners’ bitch.
- Champions (males and females) will be called to the ring; also winners’ dog, winners’s bitch, veteran male (1st place) and veteran female (1st place) will be in the ring. From all the dogs in the ring, the judge will award the following prizes:
- Best of Breed or Variety
- Best of Winners
- Best opposite Sex of Breed or Variety
- Select Dog
- Select Bitch
Only dogs entered in the Champions Class (males and females) can be awarded “Select Dog” or “Select Bitch”.
The best of breed or variety winners will compete for the “Best in Group". The ten “Best in Group” winners will compete for the “Best in Show”
- Between the 1st place “Puppy” male and the 1st place “Puppy” female, the judge will select the “Best Puppy of Breed” who will compete for the “Best Puppy in Group”; the ten winners of the “Best Puppy in Group” will compete for the “Best Puppy in Show”.
- Between the 1st place “Twelve-To-Eighteen Months (Junior)” male and the 1st place “Twelve-To-Eighteen Months (Junior)” female, the judge will select the “Best Junior of Breed” who will compete for the “Best Junior in Group”; the ten winners of the “Best Junior in Group” will compete for the “Best Puppy in Show”.
- Between the 1st place “Veteran” male and the 1st place “Veteran” female, the judge will select the “Best Veteran of Breed” who will compete for the “Best Veteran in Group”; the ten winners of the “Best Veteran in Group” will compete for the “Best Puppy in Show”.
- The Minor Puppy Class, (dogs that are three months of age and over, but under six months) from all breeds (including breeds recognized by AKC) will be divided by groups:
- Sheepdogs and Cattledogs (except Swiss Cattledogs).
- Pinscher and Schnauzer - Molossoid and Swiss Mountain and Cattledogs.
- Spitz and primitive type.
- Scent hounds and related breeds.
- Pointing Dogs.
- Retrievers - Flushing Dogs - Water Dogs.
- Companion and Toy Dogs.
- Other breeds not recognized by FCI but recognized by National Organizations.
The eleven “Minor Puppy Group” winners will compete for the “Best Minor Puppy in Show”.

The Puppy Class shall be for dogs that are six months of age and over, but under twelve months, that are not champions. The titles can be collected on the days of the event at the FCM office for free.
FCM - Junior Panamerican Championship
The “Junior Panamerican Championship” will be offered by FCM to the “Twelve-to-Eighteen Month Class” winners, male and female, on Thursday November 12th, 2026. The Twelve-to-Eighteen Month Class shall be for dogs that are 12 months of age and over, but under 18 months, that are not champions. The titles can be collected on the days of the event at the FCM office for free.
FCM - Panamerican Championship
The “Panamerican Championship” will be offered by FCM to the Best of Breed or Best of Variety of Breed, to the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed or Best of Variety of Breed to the Select Dog and to the Select Bitch winners on Thursday November 12th, 2026. The titles can be collected on the days of the event at the FCM office for free.
FCM - Veteran Panamerican Championship
The “Veteran Panamerican Championship” will be offered by FCM to the “Veteran Class” winners, male and female, on Thursday November 12th, 2026. The Veteran Class shall be for dogs aged seven years or older. The winners of the veteran class are not eligible to compete for AKC championship points but are eligible to compete for Best of Breed. The titles can be collected on the days of the event at the FCM office for free.
